Dandelion Africa has 25 women groups in Rural Areas of Baringo and Nakuru County. Our women empowerment program is tailor made to provide knowledge and skills through trainings and capacity building so that women in this program can be SELF RELIANT.
We register groups with Ministry of Gender and social services, then start training them on health mainly HIV prevention and management, nutrition and Entrepreneurship starting with basic budgeting, Each group then starts TABLE BANKING. This has been done in Dandelion Africa for the past 5 years. Table banking is a micro finance savings scheme that encourages women to save. Dandelion Africa has over 600 women in its projects and in the past 5 years over 500 women are now running their own businesses and have improved economic livelihood.
We partner with Women Entreprise Fund and Uwezo fund offices and ensure that we facilitate our women to apply and repay their loans from these institutions. So far, Dandelion has 15 women groups have been able to access Women Entreprise Fund and 5 have accessed Uwezo Fund.
